27/03/2024Former Sirocco Fires boss, Allison Wright, ushers in a new era in refractory fuel bed manufacturing with Fireplace Ceramics Limited
A new name in the design and production of high-quality, handmade, bespoke refractory fuel bed products arrived in February 2024.
Allison Wright, the former Managing Director of Sirocco Fires, has launched a brand-new name in the world of imitation refractory and ceramic fuel beds - Fireplace Ceramics Limited. Having successfully overseen the modernisation and relocation of Sirocco Fires, Allison has decided to move on after five years at the helm.
“ I felt that I had achieved all I could at Sirocco Fires, and I have always had a keen passion for ceramics. So naturally one of the key areas I was really keen to improve whilst at Sirocco Fires, was the look of the imitation fuel beds in our Hole in the Wall range, but I could not find anything that made the grade for which I was striving.”

Working closely with fellow manufacturers Archer Fires, Clock Stoves and Oak Stoves, whilst also drawing on the in-depth knowledge amongst existing industry experts, Allison has been able to design, develop and deliver a new and exciting range of refractory products perfectly suited to the gas and electric fire industry, producing two unique and specialist materials for the gas and electric markets.
She said: “Imitation logs for the gas fire market have grown substantially in recent years and our new hard refractory material is specifically designed to glow to replicate real logs. Whilst our dedicated electric fire logs, using our refractory derivative material, produce a repeatable high-definition log that is complete in every detail.
“Straight away it was clear we were on to something special,” Allison muses. “The compliments our fuel beds received at various new product launches were extremely encouraging. I knew then if I was to pursue this passion further, I would have to break away from Sirocco Fires completely and focus 100% on the designing and developing of realistic and resilient refractory fuel beds, for what are the best-known manufacturers in the gas and electric fire community in the country. You could say this has now become The Fireplace Ceramics Mission Statement.”
The result… Allison has now launched Fireplace Ceramics Limited
Based in the manufacturing Heart of England, Fireplace Ceramics is set to offer only the best in bespoke refractory fuel beds to the entire fireplace manufacturing industry.
“I believe we now have something for everyone,” she continued. “Whether it’s a landscape electric fire requiring a more realistic fuel bed to break up its linear appearance, or a gas stove with pistol burners striving for that piled-on countryside log look - we can help!” claims Allison with a smile.
Smile she should, the Fireplace Ceramics set-up is impressive. Customers engaging with Fireplace Ceramics receive nothing short of 5-star service.
“Some customers even bring in their own logs,” laughs Allison.
As you follow the design and manufacturing process through the various stages, from concept design, through to colour matching, the result is a realistic log set with no less than seven colours, perfectly moulded to fit the latest pistol burners of a new range of gas stoves.
“We have a great team here,” she adds as she reflects on the past 12 months.
Allison has successfully harnessed the skills of artists and artisans in her constant pursuit of excellence. Every fuel bed produced is unique in its design. Starting with the moulding, Fireplace Ceramics’ unique method of mould production picks up even the most intricate detail of the model selected.
“Hand casting using refractory allows us to capture detail which was never possible using the traditional ceramic fibre vacuum forming used in the industry,” she explains.
“The only way to capture the colours of a chopped silver birch log is by hand painting them.
“Fireplace Ceramics’ aim is to enhance the already excellent appliances manufactured in the industry with an equally fantastic British fuel bed that rivals anything imported into the country.”
The future? Allison and her team are already taking the industry by storm. Having secured several lucrative orders over the past months, Fireplace Ceramics Limited are now setting its sights firmly on enhancing the fireplace industry even further.
“Our aim for the future is to become the ‘go to’ name in refractory.” states Allison proudly. “We have already booked our place at the World of Fireplaces Exhibition in Leipzig in 2025 and I sincerely hope that my former competitors will view us as a viable alternative to Far Eastern imports and consider me and my team here at Fireplace Ceramics Limited as a reliable supplier that takes as much pride in enhancing their appliances as they do in producing them.”
